The 4-H Central Area Tech Team has had an extremely successful Fall!

During the September meeting, the 4H Central Area Tech Team (CATT) learned about Ham Radio from registered Ham Radio user Joe Leto.

The CATT mapped the Iowa Arboretum’s trails in October using GPS (Global Positioning System) units. Three trails, Overlook Trail, Linda Lane, and Herrick Trail, were mapped.

The officer elections were also held in October. The officers were:

President – David R

Vice-President – Kyle K

Secretary/ Reporter – Alex C

Treasurer – Zach M

Historian – Craige E and Marissa K

Web Development Team – Alex C and David R

Program/Activities Coordinator – Craige E

Rec Leaders – Marissa K and Zach M

The CATT held a potluck dinner for the November meeting. Each member’s family was invited. The officer installations were held as well as the induction of a new member.

In the December meeting members used soldering irons to make LED Christmas trees and AM radios.

As for upcoming events, in January 2010 the CATT will attend ISU’s first Lego League Tournament. In February there will be a computer fix-it workshop. For more information go to www.centralareatechteam.org.

The members of the 4-H CATT continue to learn new things about technology and the world!
